Paloma was estimated to be born 1/31/07 and weighs about 8 lbs. She was left on the door step of a local vet's office in a small cat carrier with a cat. The vet was able to check her over medically, spay her, but could not find a suitable home right away, so they called us. Paloma truly needs a female only home, she absolutely hates men and has obviously been abused by one. To us ladies, that she knows, she is simply wonderful. She is loving, playful, sweet and good with the other dogs as well as cats. She is going to make someone a loving and wonderful dog, but it has to be the right person(s) because even meeting new women is traumatic and she needs some time to adjust. She cannot be around little kids as she could become fearful, especially if grabbed at or cornered. The fee for Paloma is $200.00.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
The fees for our puppies/dogs normally run $200-$350 but can be more for an extremely adoptable dog. For a senior or high maintenance dog (behavioral/medical issues) the fee will be more negotiable. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, a 4.5# bag of Science Diet food, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet.
Each Joyful Rescues pet has been thrown away at least once. Pets are not disposable just because your life has changed. Before you decide to bring a pet into your home, make absolutely sure that it will be a lifetime commitment. When our pets leave us we want them to go to their forever homes. By adopting a pet you are not only helping the pet you adopt, but also others in or needing to come into rescue.
