Wow! Have I Been Around the Block!
Stanley was born about November 14, 2009 and weighs between 5 & 8 lbs. Sorry, I don't have a scale handy, if you need exact weight, let us know. He is a cute little guy that was dumped on a back road, along with his brother, not far from here. The night it happened someone showed up at our door with the brother and they said they couldn't catch the other one. Dog control was notified and they had sightings with many capture attempts for three months!!!! Thankfully, it was warm and people must have been putting out food trying to lure the tiny creature - it finally worked! He went to dog control holding station and they adopted him out to a woman just up the road from here that has turned about 8 dogs into us over the last 10 years. It's fun to get new dogs all the time - I guess. So, she had an argument with her housemate and put all his clothes out on the wooden deck (not the yard) and set them on fire which ignited the mobile home. So, this is how Stanley came to be with us. I could not make this stuff up if I tried and even left some juicy tidbits out to keep this mostly on the positive side.
OK, back to Stanley, well, he's adorable and seems very happy to be here. She said he can be nippy, but he's been really great with all of us even as we cuddled him and made him compfy in his area of the 'dog house' (kennel). But, he is a chiahuahua, and sometimes they can be nippy. He is also struggling with house training as so many chias do and may benefit from floor potty pads for a while or throughout life. He's wonderful with the other dogs and since he grew up with a brother he'd probably enjoy a doggie companion. He sure does like to cuddle and we sure are glad he is here!
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $300.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, a 4.5# bag of Science Diet food, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet.
Each Joyful Rescues pet has been thrown away at least once. Pets are not disposable just because your life has changed.
