Great Pyrenees - Tom Pyr - Extra Large - Young - Male - Dog
Tom was born about March 17, 2010 and weighs about 150 lbs. He's one gorgeous, big, boy that has been nothing but a field dog since he was born. Tom is learning all sorts of new things here and walks beautifully on leash now. He's learning about car rides, grooming, and mostly he's learning about us humans. He is being lavished with love and isn't sure what to do with it. At first he hid his head and wouldn't look at us and now his head is in our laps and he dares to look into our eyes. Of course we smile and make silly and scratch the favorite dog spots, or at least the ones we've gotten shaved so we can find skin. We are saving as much fur as possible, but areas had to be shaved down to the skin. Tom lived on an alpacca farm and was put out to pasture when he was a pup, he's now being socialized, but may never be 'normal', probably always a little shy in new places and with new people, but we've not seen an ounce of aggression. We are thankful to the owners who realized this really was no life for a dog, they were not the field dog kind of humans, and so he is here to get a fresh start. Tom has always been with another dog and we realize no one is going to want them both and really it may not be the best thing because they are terribly dependent on each other. However, we strongly feel that Tom should be in a home with another dog, preferably one that is social and well adjusted so he/she can teach Tom that humans are cool and it's fun to love them.
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $325.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
Each Joyful Rescues pet has been thrown away at least once. Pets are not disposable just because your life has changed. Before you decide to bring a pet into your home, make absolutely sure that it will be a lifetime commitment. When our pets leave us we want them to go to their forever homes. By adopting a pet you are not only helping the pet you adopt, but also others in or needing to come into rescue.
Because these pets are in our homes, for our personal safety before visiting, you must fill out the application on-line at www.joyfulrescues.org (you MUST provide references including a vet reference along with phone numbers) or for further questions you can e-mail [email removed]
