I Have An Angel Named Danielle!
Owen was born about December 12, 2009 and weighs about 50 lbs. He is a wonderful size for a dog and just the most gorgeous color! Owen ended up as a stray in a high kill pound in Ohio and he quickly became a shelter favorite so he kept getting passed by for the line up going 'out the back door'. We've not had him around kids yet, but the staff couldn't imagine a problem. He did wonderful on his long car ride here and kept pressing himself against the humans in the back seat. He is extremely loving and desires your touch. Owen is crate trained and very good about taking treats from your hand. He is house broken, and should be fine with another dog in the house. But, his real object of desire will be you! Owen has a special story. One of our wonderful teen volunteers wanted to fulfill an act of kindness, looked around on the internet for a dog that was in danger of dying and she fell for Owen. They already have a few pets so her Mom and she drove to Ohio to pick up Owen and bring him to the safety of New York, here to Joyful Rescues, so that he would have a better chance at finding a wonderful home. Danielle was his angel and now Owen needs just one more angel to come along and give him a home, a real home where he will be loved and cherished. Breed is a mystery but I think I see a little chow around the edges and that color.....
From his Foster Mom: Owen is an excellent boy. He pulls on a leash but found he walks excellent with a gentle leader harness!! He loves his food and he's a smart boy that has learned to sit for treats in less than a week. He has no food aggression issues and doesn't beg for people good. He is most happy snuggling on the couch or in bed. He can get enough of belly rubs;) He likes to always be touching me and follows me where ever I go in the house. He's crated all day when I'm at work and is an angel. No accidents in the house except for a few marking spots where he smelled either slim or mari. I've tried getting him to play ball and with toys but he doesn't know what to do with them:( at first in the house he was afraid of stairs and it seemed hallways . But as he's coming out of his shell he's but that in his past! He's the best snuggle buddy;) truly truly wonderful!!!
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $150.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
Each Joyful Rescues pet has been thrown away at least once. Pets are not disposable just because your life has changed. Before you decide to bring a pet into your home, make absolutely sure that it will be a lifetime commitment. When our pets leave us we want them to go to their forever homes. By adopting a pet you are not only helping the pet you adopt, but also others in or needing to come into rescue.
