Sarita was born about January 1, 2000 and now weighs about 50 lbs. Her age was guessed by the vet and looking at her teeth, but this girl is like Betty White! She doesn't act her age, she gets around just fine, goes for walks and up staircases without hesitation. She came to us because she was ill (vomiting and dia.) and the people couldn't take her to a vet. She was being tossed from one home to another because of the illness and not one of the homes had the means to care for themselves, let alone a dog. She arrived in a car with two young men that was classic Cheech and Chong! It would have been funny had the dog not been in such terrible condition. We did get her feeling better with wormings and antibioticss. She is somewhat stiff at times yet there seems to be no lamness. She has worn down her teeth, possibly, from being chained to a dog house and chewing on rocks for her earlier life, but other than these things she seems to be a normal elderly dog. She has gained all the weight she needs and has grown a gorgeous coat of fur. She's ready to go! She can be around other dogs just fine, but probably shouldn't live with one as she can get a little impatient with them. This is one of those times where we need some incredible human to come along and take this dog home not so much for yourself, but for Sarita.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $100.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, a 4.5# bag of Science Diet food, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet.
Each Joyful Rescues pet has been thrown away at least once. Pets are not disposable just because your life has changed. Before you decide to bring a pet into your home, make absolutely sure that it will be a lifetime commitment. When our pets leave us we want them to go to their forever homes. By adopting a pet you are not only helping the pet you adopt, but also others in or needing to come into rescue.
