Lucky Lou Cobb was born November 25, 2005 and weighs in the 30 lb. range. He is one of 8 released from a breeding facility that has now closed. We are very happy to hear that! These dogs will need house training to some degree. It wasn't one of those awful places with wire bottom cages, these dogs did have inside/outside runs so they are in reasonably good shape mentally and physically. It will take some effort to turn them into 'normal' dogs that are comfortable in new places. We have 'Working with Mill Dog' notes that we can send you before you apply if you'd like some insight on what is involved to turn these gorgeous fur kids into your next family member. Lucky is goinig to be best as an only dog. He is fine when around other dogs, but we sense he's going to be much happier alone. He is doing well on leash once you get headed in the right direction.
Update from foster mom : Lucky still has much to learn about living in a home, but he?s a real sweetheart with his humans and making slow but steady progress. He came to both my husband and me eager for petting at every opportunity, with his nub of a tail wagging happily. Affection is new to him, and boy, he soaks it up! He returns our affection with lots and lots of ?thank you? kisses! Lucky doesn?t appear to be much of a barker?a pretty mellow fellow! He's still a bit timid...loud noises startle him. Let?s talk about his ?crate?. It?s a nice size one?36? x 22??and it has a soft, Sherpa mattress in it, plus two blankets to make it extra ?cushy?. He seems to feel ?safe? in there, very relaxed and comfortable. To reinforce housebreaking efforts, we do close his crate door at night, and he sleeps all night long. If you want a dog that enjoys petting, Lucky won?t disappoint you! His fur is curly, soft tufts in various shades of blonde, with darker coloring on his ears, just waiting for someone to run their fingers through it. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $300.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, a 4.5# bag of Science Diet food, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet.
